July 2009 national housing stats fuel Wall Street optimism

July 2009 real estate statistics tell of the most significant increase in monthly home sales since 1999. 5,240,000 homes sold in the US last month, exceeding economists' expectations. Housing figures, released on Friday, made a positive impression on Wall Street as well, where it was received as a sign that the housing market is on the mend.
